West Mercia Police - Community Messaging System - Update

Alert message sent 28/10/2020 11:24:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Member,

Many of you will be aware of the West Mercia Police - Community Messaging System (CMS).
Some of you who subscribed to the CMS may have noticed that you haven't been getting any email messages from the CMS for the last few months. If you haven't noticed this, it isn't because there has been no crimes in your local area, it is because the CMS was shut down with no notice to anyone.  I have received this update from West Mercia Police with an update about the CMS.

October Update - Statement for public enquiries about the CMS:

We are in the process of appointing a new provider for Community Messaging System as our previous contract ended in June.
We have identified a new system and are just in the latter stages of the appropriate procurement process and we are delighted to say that the new system should be in place by the end of November, early December. We will then start to train our officers, staff and volunteers during a phased roll-out of the new system.

We apologise that we weren’t able to alert people to the changes in service before they occurred in the summer. This was not our intention but due to unforeseen circumstances, the original CMS service was ended before we were able to get in touch. Thank you for your patience in the interim, and apologies for any inconvenience caused.

We really appreciate the work and support of our CMS ambassadors in our neighbourhoods who help us better serve our communities, and all those who either help run or support local watch schemes such as Neighbourhood Watch, Rural Watch and many others. The new system includes functionality to complement and support these schemes and enables us to pass on vital information and messages.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we put the new system in place. In the meantime there are many ways in which you can either access information or follow policing news.

You can follow us on social media. We have several central accounts, but your policing area will also have local accounts:

Twitter: @WMerciaPolice  Facebook: @westmerciapolice Instagram @WestMerciaPolice

You can access news and advice via our website: and crime data can be found on

We will also continue to work with our local media to keep you up to date.

WMNW Exec Team
